REVIVAL INTANGIBLE HERITAGE
REVIVING OUR ANCIENT HERITAGE BY RENEWING IT CULTURALLY, SOCIALLY, AND ECONOMICALLY IN THE SPIRIT OF ANCIENT EGYPT
إحياء تراثنا القديم عبر تجديده ثقافياً وإجتماعياً وإقتصادياً بروح المصرية القديمة
The Idea centered around the exploration of intangible heritage within Egypt. Recognizing the rich tangible and intangible heritage of Egypt, our focus is on leveraging intangible heritage as a potent force to fortify cultural legacies, yielding substantial social, cultural, and economic dividends.
The Nubia region, particularly the Animalia island in southern Egypt, was strategically chosen for its profound heritage. This region boasts enduring crafts from ancient times, handed down through generations. Additionally, the residents engage in animal husbandry, cultivating heritage plants and showcasing them for both tourists and locals amidst a backdrop of archaeological heritage spanning various eras.
PROGRAM
Contemplating the integration of ancient architectural elements into contemporary urban spaces, we envisioned a structure that serves as a communal hub for residents. The ground floor features an open, adaptable space fostering communication and flexibility. It can serve as a public community area, exhibit space for crafts, or transform into a temporary museum. The second floor is designed to host heritage-related celebrations, creating a vibrant venue that invites people and visitors to explore the city's rich heritage.
Furthermore, we sought to harmonize the building with nature, considering the annual migration of birds, including flamingos, from Europe to southern Egypt. The structure is designed to be seamlessly connected to its natural surroundings, incorporating observation platforms offering panoramic views of migratory birds and the captivating landscape, all while showcasing heritage buildings in every direction.
